Life Coaches assist people who want to improve their lives in specific ways, such as changing careers, finding a healthy relationship, taking their business to a new level, losing weight or deepening their self-understanding. They deal with stress management as well as time management, goal setting and other key areas of change to help their clients lead more balanced lives that better reflect clients’ personal values and priorities. It differs from therapy in that the focus is more on the present and future than the past and more on goals and behaviors than emotions and emotional patterns. The life coaching services offered at Changing Life’s Direction is based in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP). Perhaps the newest of all psychological frameworks, NLP is a study of the system that an individual uses to store information in their brain. If we look at our brains as very sophisticated computers, we can imagine that we each have our own mega-filing system, different from anyone else. The techniques of NLP identify how each individual stores information and then moves information around in the brain, essentially refilling it, into a more useful system. NLP explore’s how an individual's brain works, identifies what changes might be helpful, and facilitates making the desired change. It uses language to change the way information is stored in the brain and hence changes negative core beliefs and unwanted behaviors. For more information about sessions, see our services.
